An Inside look at the fort worth public market

As the Wilks Development team continues to revive the historic Fort Worth Public Market after two decades of vacancy, we welcome you to explore the future of this public space.

The historic Fort Worth Public Market, with its 15,000 square feet of leasable space, stands as a testament to the city's rich heritage. Our vision is to transform it into a vibrant community hub, housing a fine-dining restaurant, a fast-casual lunch spot, and a variety of small retail shops, all paying homage to its origins as a farmer's market. For the convenience of our visitors, valet parking will be available, along with plentiful self-parking spaces on the north side of the building and under I-30.

The area between the main building and The Harden contains the shed's remains from the original 1930 market ravaged by decay and fire. The shed’s front facade facing Henderson Street now serves as the entrance to a public seating area where you can enjoy lunch or spend time with a loved one at The Harden.

As for the inside, we will complete interior design in collaboration with tenants to create a space that respects the building's history while also reflecting the identity of each business. In the meantime, our team is restoring the interior to its original 1930s state—including removing walls added during the occupancy of various companies, including Cadillac Plastics and Photo Etch, both aircraft components manufacturers. In addition, we are replacing the plaster ceiling, power washing and polishing the floors, repairing or replacing windows with exact replicas, stripping paint from the beautiful tiled walls, and refurbishing the original hardware, among many other things.

With just over 12 months of construction left, leasing of these spaces is underway. Aside from its history, renewed beauty, and proximity to 7th Street, the Medical District, Magnolia, South Main, and Downtown, this iconic building is ideal for businesses because of The Harden’s built-in foot traffic, bustling activity, hands-on property management, and tenant improvements incentives. If you would like more information about leasing opportunities, please contact David Adams, Senior Vice President of The Woodmont Company, at dadams@woodmont.com or 817-219-3466.
